What is it?  Now in its early stages of development, the John Adelard Durand Scholarship Program was established with memorial gifts and donations received by the family of John Adelard Durand after his untimely death in 2002 at age 37. Occasional contributions and proceeds from an annual fund-raiser bike ride called JohnnyRide have increased the Scholarship Program fund since that time.
Originally, with advice from the Durand Heritage Foundation board of directors, John’s family established the purpose, administration, eligibility requirements, and application procedures for the Scholarship Program. As the Scholarship Program matures an "outside" panel of judges will evaluate applications and make recommendations for awards.
Each year the Scholarship Program will make several Academic Scholarship Awards. These awards are announced annually on May 8 (John's birthday). Research Awards are available as funds permit. Research Awards may be made at any time.
The number and amount of Awards will increase as the Scholarship Program fund grows through continued fund-raising, cash donations, gifts, and bequests.

Eligibility  Awards are made without regard to race, creed, color, gender or family relationship. Preference is given to applicants who have not received an Academic Scholarship Award or Research Award. Membership in the Durand Heritage Foundation is not required.

   Applications

Academic Scholarship Awards · Application packets can be downloaded either from this site or from the Durand Heritage Foundation website· Applications must be post-marked no later than February 15 to be considered for the following academic year (e.g. an application post-marked February 15, 2007 would be considered for the 2007-2008 academic year).
