JohnnyRide is a fund-raiser for scholarship
that was established by members of the Durand
Heritage Foundation to help further that organization's educational
mission.
The Durand Heritage Foundation is a public, not-for-profit,
educational and research corporation established in 1998 and chartered
in the state of Minnesota. It operates under §501(c)(3) of the Internal
Revenue Code. Contributions are tax-deductible to the extent allowable.
The Foundation affords no pecuniary benefit to its officers and members.
Although the Foundation has carried out its educational
mission by publishing a quarterly newsletter and by re-publishing books
and other materials of interest, it only recently initiated a
program to encourage and support academic scholarship.
The immediate goal of JohnnyRide is to build a fund of
$50,000 by 2010 to enable the annual distribution of several cash awards
to young scholars, in perpetuity.
With funds raised by the first two JohnnyRides the scholarship
program made its first awards in 2006. |
